The Companies are Offering Free Document Shredding on April 20, 2013
Durham, N.C., April 4, 2013 – Better Business Bureau serving Eastern North Carolina announces today that two locally-owned paper shredding companies, PROSHRED® Security and A Shred Ahead®, are sponsoring the “Secure Your ID” Day event on Saturday, April 20, 2013. The two companies will provide free document shredding services from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the Coastal Federal Credit Union headquarters at 1000 St. Albans Drive in Raleigh, NC.
Based in Durham, North Carolina, A Shred Ahead the largest independent shredding company in the south. PROSHRED is also locally owned, and it is part of a nationally-operated network that offers on-site document destruction and recycling services to businesses and consumers.
“As identity theft concerns continue to grow, shredding personal documents is a simple yet effective way to reduce the risk of becoming a victim,” says Jim Klemes, PROSHRED® general manager.

Participants are encouraged to bring up to three boxes or bags of documents that have been removed from binders. In addition to free document shredding, Global Electric Electronic Processing (GEEP) will be collecting electric and electronic devices to recycle certain components and safely dispose of the rest. The BBB and other partner organizations will also provide tips and resources to help consumers protect their identity.
“Secure Your ID” Day is jointly organized by the Council of Better Business Bureaus and the National Foundation for Credit Counseling to raise public awareness and educate Americans on the issues surrounding identity theft. During the event, local partner Coastal Federal Credit Union will be on hand to educate consumers about protecting their identity.
